How to create blessings?
Almost all over the world, people seek to worship or pray to god to bless them because it is believed that God can “bless and bring disaster”. Vietnamese people, especially Buddhists, although worshiping Heaven and Earth, only the matter of blessings is self-created, not entirely begging and praying to the gods. There are also many people who just beg the gods here and there to ask for blessings. But most fundamentally, Vietnamese people "plant happiness trees" for themselves, not completely depend on them.
1. Buy merit by leaving the grave to the grave, believe in feng shui:
For a very long time of history, the Department of Geography Tao Ao, Feng Shui has fascinated people. People believe without verifying and say to each other that: Burying the jaws of dragons, descendants will become kings. Buried in a high mound, descendants will pass to become mandarins. Burial in the bend of the river, descendants will be rich because of the water pouring in. Burying in a low-lying or landslide place, the descendants will be ruined, etc. In short, it's all conjecture. If it is true that bringing the remains of one's parents to be buried in a certain "favorable" place where their descendants will later become kings, mandarins, well educated, wealthy enemies, then perhaps kings, mandarins, and mandarins. They have occupied all these lands from thousands of years ago and their descendants still exist and enjoy happiness to this day. In short, this is a science of human fantasy and glamor.
There is no kind of merit that can be born from burying the dead in a certain piece of land. If so, it's just a "fake blessing". Please don't get confused about it.
2. Create merit by going to the temple.
Temple ceremony does not mean asking Buddha for blessings. But through going to the temple, the mind is stabilized, the disposition is righteous, the seeds of good are germinated, the evil is reduced, the good nature is increased, thereby doing good deeds for the family for the society and the world. grateful. That is the way to plant blessings and enjoy great blessings. If you go to the temple without doing good and avoiding evil, you will not have any merit. If greed, hatred and delusion persist, then misfortune and unhappiness will still come as usual.
3. Offering to monks and nuns:
Make offerings so that monks and nuns have the means to live, practice, and propagate the Dharma. When the Dharma is spread, people will live in altruism and morality - creating a peaceful society and country in which they live. It is a great blessing and benefit for life and can be enjoyed immediately, without waiting. It is unlucky to live in a society of insecurity, fraud, theft, fraud, hatred, killing, war, suicide bombs. Having to live in countries like Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Sudan or Ukraine…is it a blessing or a misfortune?
4. Temple construction:
To build a temple is to create a place of worship, where Buddhists come to listen to the Dharma, learn, and exchange. sharing, doing charity, young people have the opportunity to interact in a virtuous environment. It's a good place for society. And good for society is a blessing. The temple today is also a center of culture, youth education, historical relic ... how much benefit it is for children and grandchildren to come here. That is a blessing.
5. Casting bells:
The bell is the music of the temple. The bell is the sound of the heart of the temple. Listen to the bells of people's hearts fall, "The sound of the magical bells is dead". The sound of the bell calms the dust. Just listening to the bell can relieve stress and anxiety of life, sometimes without having to see a psychotherapist. Peace, relaxation - even a little bit is happiness, so blessed.
6. Building statues:
Build statues to admire, to see their happiness. Build a statue of Avalokitesvara to see that there is no fear, to learn the Way of Listening. Build a statue of Amitabha Buddha to live a pure life. Build a statue of Buddha Shakyamuni to admire a great man of mankind, a wonderful teaching that leads people to holiness whose teachings never become outdated with time. Knowing, hearing, and understanding what is good and holy are also blessings. Because unlucky is stupid, not knowing anything.
7. Chanting sutras, reciting Buddha:
In a family with a Buddhist altar, every evening a grandmother, grandmother or parents sit chanting and reciting Buddha's name is to sow good conditions for their children and grandchildren, and to create a dignified scene for the family. When she sits and recites Buddha's name, her children and grandchildren will definitely keep their gestures and walk gently. These are peaceful, good times for the family. That is a blessing.
8. Charity:
The greatest blessing is to do charity. The ancients have a saying, "Although built nine waves of Buddhas. It is not equal to being a blessing to one person.” Charity is sharing love, sharing misfortune with others. Being close to others. It is to see how lucky I am to be here. Charity is to help the government, alleviate some of the pain and unhappiness of society.
A great country is a country with many philanthropists. A country will slowly destroy if people live in selfishness. Looking at people who do charity work, everyone loves them. Nobody hates philanthropists. Being loved by people is a precious blessing.
9. Building schools and hospitals:
Building schools, especially universities, is to create merit for the whole country, not for ourselves. No country is developed without many universities. Spend money to build schools, reputation for generations to come. Also building hospitals, donating money to hospitals is to help many sick people. Virtue is indescribable.
10. Building an orphanage:
Today life is too much temptation and perversion. Ca Vu tea rooms, saunas, beer hugs, massages sprang up like mushrooms. So many girls like moths rushed into it. Then even the students became call girls. Then love promiscuous, accidentally gave birth to a child, ashamed and afraid of being entangled in a career. Then there are times when the poor are too poor to support their children, so they throw the baby - sometimes the umbilical cord has not been cut into the garbage, at the temple door. Hearing the sound of children crying oe oe, the body was bruised and shed tears. Stop taking the exam, even if you are poor, even if you are lacking in means, tell each other to raise them.
Looking at my child with a warm mattress and a soft blanket, being pampered and pampered, looking at an orphan but a tight heart. Visiting the orphanage and then going home to eat did not feel good. Therefore, helping orphanages, building orphanages, and adopting orphans are alleviating the pain of society. That is the heart between man and man, how precious it is. That is the bodhisattva's conduct, compassion, and merit.
11. Grant scholarships to poor students:
Everyone who is allowed to go to school is blessed. Not being able to go to school with books, or being born in a place where there is no school is a disadvantage and unhappiness. It is not enough to get an education, but also to get to the place. Passing high school and not having money to go to college is bittersweet. College tuition seems so high these days that some have had to drop it.
So, helping poor students with scholarships is a noble act and an investment in the country's brain because maybe one of them is a scholar, professor, doctor, scientist? The students who receive the scholarship in the future will definitely be grateful and come back to help other students in the same situation as me. Opening the wisdom of others is a great blessing.
12. Love rice shop, social rice shop:
There are many people in this world who waste money on alcohol and other strange entertainment with a whole month's salary. Of course, they are not guilty of anything, but they are people who live unworthy and despised by people. In the morning, I sit leisurely by a cup of coffee, beside a decent breakfast, but so many people are running around to have something to put in their stomach. Then work hard until noon craving a meal called temporary enough nutritious but not enough money. Then at night, come home, braised fish sauce, boiled water spinach, and chao sauce may not be available. Think pity. Not to mention the saints, even those who have a little thought when they feel they are full should also have pity on the needy. Love rice shop, social rice shop, free vegetarian rice restaurant are a great source of consolation for the poor, for the working people and for the students… how precious:
Government interference that takes the mirror.
People in a country to trade together.
If you have money, support money. If you don't have money, you have a surplus of rice, a bottle of fish sauce, a pound of sugar, a handful of salt, soy sauce, tofu, etc., remember to bring it to the shop with love. There are many sufferings in this world, but the most miserable thing is still being hungry or not eating. Reflect on this life with "compassionate contemplation" taught by the Buddha.
Don't contemplating life with lust and ambition. Even if we pour millions of dollars into one meal, it does not increase our value and dignity, it is just lust. But just helping the poor, giving a few tens of dollars to the social restaurant makes us a noble person. It is merit and virtue.
13. Be kind to everyone:
Why is it a blessing to be kind to everyone? Because when you are kind to people, people respect and appreciate it, the good news spreads. Because of that good reputation, many people we don't even know can help us later on without us even realizing it. Being helped by people is a blessing. Being deceived and abandoned by people is unlucky.
14. Honesty:
Why is honesty a blessing? Because honesty will touch people's hearts. Everyone loves honest people. Every company wants to hire honest people. The government also wants to hire honest people. When we want to give someone great responsibility, we look for someone who is honest. The boy also loves the honest girl. Girls also love and trust honest guys. Honesty is a treasure of blessings that people do not know.
15. Speaking, gentle gestures:
Why is gentle speech a blessing? Because gentle speech is pleasing to people. Once you have won the hearts of people, all your wishes will be fulfilled. Speaking curtly, vulgarly, and harshly creates hatred and everything falls apart. Gentleness and lightness are blessings, the easiest weapon to conquer people.
16. Forbearance:
Why is yielding a blessing? Because when you give in, everything is fine. Brothers and friends, it's okay to "play guard", "cheat", "surpass" me a little bit. Later, the “winners” will think back to them and they can return or compensate more than what they took from them. More than a word to do? Silence, or yield to avoid conflict, can lead to enmity, stabbing, and killing each other.
In every ceremony, monks and nuns and Buddhists pray for "Stay in the night of peace". How can there be peace when it is better than losing and arguing? Humility is a noble virtue, not a weakness. Only those who cultivate the mind, nurture their nature or are innately good-natured can yield. Those who don't know the value of yielding, just keep arguing and fighting, then they'll know. Forbearance is that blessing.
17. The wisdom of wisdom:
One of man's greatest blessings is wisdom or the wisdom of wisdom. Even if you are rich, have high status, and are famous, your mind is stagnant, narrow, and ignorant. Being poor or living an idyllic middle-class life with a clear mind, wide understanding, and contributing knowledge to the world is still respected by everyone. Everyone has wisdom, but if you want to progress to wisdom, you have to learn. The Buddha was not born with all kinds of knowledge. He also had to learn from master after master. Therefore, if you want to have wisdom of the mind, you must have education, and you must read books every day without stopping.
Today, through the development of the global internet system, all knowledge is contained in electronic machines. Books are full of libraries, free lecture tapes…not to expand your mind is a waste. Burying your head in gambling, singing karaoke, playing games, cockfighting, drinking, chatting or commenting on facebook...even if you don't want to be friends for the rest of your life. It only takes five or ten years of reading to become an intellectual, contributing to life, setting a good example for family and children. Sitting in a golden palace and being ignorant is also unhappiness.
Even though they are poor, staying in a cottage with a wall of mud is still a blessing and wisdom. The sages and bodhisattvas we worship, they have nothing but the wisdom of wisdom. Remember, there is no greater blessing than the wisdom of wisdom. To have wisdom is to have everything.
18. Peace of mind
Although we have all the above-mentioned blessings, in our hearts we are troubled and anxious. Our mouths are dry. Our minds are restless. Our minds are confused. We are insecure in our hearts. Our nerves are pressed, stressed, the pressure is on each breath... even if sitting on a pile of gold, on a table full of dollars, it's like hell. Therefore, at all costs, we must do our best to have peace of mind. The attainment of buddhas and bodhisattvas is a place of "peace of mind" or "body free from disease, mind free of afflictions". But if you want to reach "peace of mind", there must be a way. One of the most wonderful ways is "contemplation of impermanence".
Contemplating impermanence means: Worrying about his wife and children is enough, but seeing his wife and children here and there, he can't eat life with him. The high position, the high authority that we have here will also be an illusion. The dreams and aspirations that I am cherishing here - success or failure, they will disappear like smoke. How much hatred will pass. How much love and then have to say goodbye. Then even my precious life here will one day rot.
If you can shop like that, your heart will sink. The breath will be lighter, the mind will be more alert, the anxiety will be less, the sadness will also lessen, the anger will also subside, the desire will be lighter… and the mind will become calm and then slowly relax, Temporarily called "liberation" means no longer being bound by anything in this world. It is the "fairy place", the Pure Land, the Buddha Land. Peace of mind, peace of mind, purity is the greatest blessing, the supreme blessing, the inconceivable blessing that the land of Amitabha Buddha is the same.
In short, blessings are not given by gods, heaven and earth, but by grandparents and parents created in the past and created by themselves in the present. Not a single blessing has fallen from the sky. Many people today are respected by society because of the prestige and karma of their parents in the past. And also many people have to live in the dark because of the evil karma that their parents and grandparents created before. Those "transitions" of merit are also known as good karma or bad karma and karma transferred from one life to another.
Understanding that, we must create blessings for ourselves and thereby our children and grandchildren will inherit. And please also remember, have merit and then please do not waste it as the ancients taught, "Wealth cannot be enjoyed. Unreliable power.” Virtue is like money to the bank. Take out to spend slowly, invest to make a profit, eat forever, then leave it to your children and grandchildren. Spending squanderingly, without worrying about investing to create new blessings, one day they go bankrupt, and their children and grandchildren are also infected.
